MOTORCYCLE SAFETY AWARENESS MONTH

Florida Governor Charlie Crist signed a proclamation on April 1, 2010 declaring May as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. Members of Southernmost ABATE’s Board of Directors have been busy obtaining the same proclamation from local governments. Pictured below is Layton Mayor Norman Anderson presenting the proclamation to our President Sandy MacLaren on April 1, 2010. Additional declarations are forthcoming from the cities of Key West, Marathon, Key Colony Beach, and Islamorada, and from Monroe County.

The proclamations urge citizens to join the public safety campaign to be aware of motorcycles on our roads and for all motorcyclists to take advantage of motorcycle safety programs throughout the year.

May is the perfect month to educate EVERYONE about the importance of WATCHING OUT FOR MOTORCYCLES!

We are a non-profit organization of motorcycle enthusiasts from all walks of life. We lobby and educate the government and the general public to promote motorcycling in a safe and positive image. We endeavor to enlist the cooperation and participation of all organizations and individuals that share a similar interest in preserving our American tradition of FREEDOM. We promote motorcycle safety, training and political awareness. We ARE NOT A CLUB OR A GANG. We fund our work through toy runs, poker runs, camp outs, and other motorcycle activities. We are your neighbors and friends who work, pay taxes, and get involved with our community. We serve and support our country and believe in freedom. We use all legal means to protect our rights without infringing on the rights of others. ABATE of Florida, Inc. is incorporated under the laws of Florida as a motorcycle rights organization or "MRO". ABATE of Florida, Inc. currently is the only political MRO in Florida representing the interests of it's members and the motorcycling public at large. ABATE of Florida, Inc. is dedicated to securing and protecting the rights of all motorcyclists in the state.
